Shannon Leisure Centre continues to adopt the Primary Aquatics Safety programme for all its school swimming lessons. Each class need to attend a minimum of 8 lessons to qualify for certification with no extra cost to the school. We submit all names and level of certification to Irish Water Safety head office in Galway who inturn send out the certs to the relevant schools. We also send a copy of the list of information to the schools for you to fill out the certs when they arrive.
As always our emphasis is on learning in an enjoyable environment to help promote physical activity for life and the development of healthy lifestyles for our children. This year we are delighted to announce the addition Circuit Training to our already extensive list of programmes. Born out of demand from local schools this fun yet testing class has gone down a storm with kids of all ages.
The cost for swimming lessons, PE or Circuit training is €4.50 per child. A minimum of 20 and maximum or 40 children requirement is in place. (Please contact the centre if your class numbers are outside this.) The immediate presence of the class teacher is required at the pool or hall at all times. We require all teachers who wish to come onto the pool deck to wear flip flops. This is necessary as to avoid the contamination of our pool. Any teacher without flip flops may view from the viewing gallery along with the students not taking part. We would also ask you to inform our staff of any children with special needs.
In an effort to reduce costs for your school we are continuing with an option of combining a few activities.
Cost per child €4.50
If you are interested in this package please contact us for more details. You may also download our School Swimming & PE Booking Form here.
On the first day of arrival we would please ask you to bring a class sheet for the leisure centres use so that we can ensure we have all names spelt correctly. It is the responsibility of the teacher to make sure that all children have their own swimming equipment.
